Beavers Shut Down

Friday January 6, 2006

The Lake Village Beavers came to town Friday night looking to stop what at times seems to be an unstopable Warren Lumberjack Basketball team. They would be denied loosing by the final of 56-41.

The first quarter was slow for the Jacks. The Beavers struck first with an early bucket inside to make the score 2-0 Lake Village. The Jacks would win what was a close quarter, 10-6.

With 7:41 remaining in the second quarter, senior A.J. Avery put the crowd on its feet with a two hand slam to make it 13-6 Warren. J. Wright was given the assist. Later in the quarter with two seconds remaining J. Wright carried the ball the length of the court to drain a three. That shot left us with the halftime score of 24-19.

The third wasn't domanated by either team, but Warren began to pull away some. It ended 41-28 in favor of the Jacks.

Not much was to be said about the fourth. The Jacks owned the Beavers. The final score was 56-41 Lumberjacks.

Senior Dennen Cuthbertson who was two for two on free throws said " We weren't really happy with our overall performance. Free throws were a problem. We are still missing way to many. The truth is though, we just looked to sloppy. Almost like we weren't there."

Next up for the Jacks is Hamburg on January 10, 2006. Come out and support your Lumberjacks.
