Jacks

Camden- Tuesday, March 7, 2006

If we were to take away the first three innings it would have been a much better game. However, the Warren Lumberjacks just couldn't overcome their early game mistakes. In the end, Camden Fairview took the Jacks 14-5 in seven innings of play.

Moorehead Jordan started the night off on the mound for the Jacks. He would only remain in for 1+ innings. Daniel Robinson took over from there and finished the game. Moorehead Jordan struggled with control. Jordan and Robinson combined for 9 walks in the first two innings. Robinson on the other hand struggled early, but really ended it strong.  He retired 14 straight batters after he settled down.

The Jacks got a Michael Green run in the top of the first, but Fairview answered with 5 runs of their own and then with another 7 runs in the bottom of the second for a 12-1 lead going into the top of the third.  Warren got their second run of the game when Wesley Cogdill scored off a Bryan Church double.  Robinson held Fairview scoreless in the bottom of the inning and the Jacks exploded for 3 runs in the top of the fourth.  Dusty Hardin walked to start the inning and Rob Reep singled to left after a Ryan May pop-out to second.  With runners on first and second, Johnny Roper hit a RBI single scoring Hardin.  Green hit a single that scored courtesy runner Taylor Wood.  Cogdill flew out to center field for the second out of the inning.  Matt Pace came through for the Jacks with a double that plated Roper.  The Cardinals then intentionally walked Church to load the bases but Nick Holloway couldn't come through for the Jacks as he struck out looking.

Fairview got a little worried after they didn't score in the bottom of the inning and relieved starting pitcher Jim Youngblood with lefty David Nix.  Nix shut down the Jacks, mainly with his curve, the rest of way.  Nix also hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 14-5.  The Jacks didn't do anything in the top of the seventh to keep the final tally at 14-5.  An enormous conference game looms for the Jacks on Thursday against fellow conference favorite McGehee who is also 1-0 in conference after handling Lake Village 11-1.
