Crossett Defeats Warren in Overtime
Friday, December 2nd, 2005-Warren, Arkansas
It took 4 minutes after regulation for the Crossett Eagles to defeat the Warren Lumberjacks in a overtime thriller in Warren Friday. Warren was coming off a loss to the Monticello Billies in the Fordyce Tournament.
The 'Jacks came out firing as they took a commanding 20-5 lead in the first quarter. Crossett continually fouled Warren early and the free-throws helped the 'Jacks early on, but killed them in the end.
In the second quarter, the 'Jacks saw their lead slowing beginning to dissipate as the Eagles used their extremely tall players to out rebound Warren and took the game into half-time only down by a few points.
In the third quarter, Crossett saw their first lead of the night, and began to battle hard with the Lumberjacks. As Crossett continually took the ball inside, because the 'Jacks had the outside covered, they began to overpower Warren's shorter players.
In the fourth, Crossett and Warren exchanged leads. Warren missed several important free-throws to help Crossett stay in the game. As Crossett and Warren were both tied with only a few seconds left on the clock, Warren shot the ball, but came up short, sending the game to overtime. In the next 4 minutes, Crossett took the lead and never looked back. The Eagles won 53-48, which put the 'Jacks at 1-3 on the season.
