Fountain Lake Downs Jacks

As the night of February 24 drew closer to an end, it seemed as if the Warren Lumberjacks would hold on and beat Fountain Lake in the second round of the Region four tournament. However, Fountain Lake thought otherwise. They downed Warren 35-32 in a fourth quarter performance.
With 5:08 remaining in the first quarter Fountain Lake got on the board with a three. Later, with 4:37 left senior A.J. Avery hit two free throws to make
it 3-2.With 2:03 remaining in the first Greg Childs received credit for a tip-in off an A.J. Avery free throw. Childs drained a three from beyond the arc with 5 seconds left in the quarter. The quarter ended with Warren ahead 12-8.
P. Grey of Fountain Lake began the second by hitting a three. That made it 14-11 Warren. Gordon Womack added a three with 3:40 remaining to make it 17-16 Warren. Tee Lexing hit two free throws with 2:44 left making it 21-18 Warren. Warren would go into the half with the lead of 23-18.
Early in the third quarter senior Derrick Bullard gained a well earned inside bucket. Peter Grey hit another three with 4:20 remaining and cut Warren's lead once again. With about 4:00 left in the third coach Anthony Avery had the Jacks stall. The stall lasted almost the entire third period of play. The quarter ended with the Jacks on top by the score of 25-21.
The fourth quarter was filled with excitement. Fountain Lake cut Warren's lead early to 25-22. Greg Childs hit a shot from beyond the arc with 6:30 remaining in the period. Fountain Lake's J. Harper hit a three to make the score 28-25 Warren. With 1:22 left in the game Fountain Lake tied it up at 32 all. Fountain Lake drilled a three with 10.4 seconds remaining in the game. Chanc Davis attempted a last second three but could not convert. The final score read 35-32.
The Jacks defeated the Fordyce Redbugs 55 - 43 Saturday night. They will play Heber Springs Wednesday.
