Jr. Jacks End Season in First Round of District Tourney

Hamburg, Arkansas, February 11, 2006

The Warren Jr. Jacks were looking to take care of business in first round action of the 8AAA district tournament in Hamburg Saturday night.  Already losing to Dollarway once this season, Warren was focused on not letting the Cardinals end their season.

The starting Jr. Jacks for the game were Clay Towery, Steven Brown, Dusty Funderburg, Shaquil Ellis, and Dedrick Hampton.  The first quarter was a low scoring one for both teams.  As the quarter was coming to a close Warren's Steven Brown made a three-pointer at the buzzer to put Warren ahead of Dollarway 5-3.

In the second quarter, Warren found little offense, while the Cardinals found somewhat of a offensive spurt.  The Jr. Jacks lost their lead to Dollarway and went into the half down 12-8.

The Cardinals showed no signs of letting go of their lead in the third.  Warren's rebounding was impressive, but missed opportunities killed the Jacks during the entire game.  Dollarway took advantage of the miscues by Warren to control the game and keep a 23-16 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Time, adversity, and fatigue were all foes of the Jr. Jacks in the fourth.  The Jr. Cardinals zone defense quieted the Jr. Jack offense in the period.  Dollarway also managed to convert several three-pointers to distance themselves from the Jacks.  Warren ended up losing to the Cardinals 39-25 to end the 2005-2006 season.

Dedrick Hampton and Steven Brown lead the Jr. Jacks with seven points each.  Jonthan Lee added four and Dusty Funderburg added three.  Dedrick Hampton also lead the Jacks with fourteen rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one blocked shot.
