Lumberjacks Capture Bobcats

By Rob Reep & Dennen Cuthbertson

Warren, Arkansas-April 10, 2006

Things are starting to heat up in the 8AAA. The Warren Lumberjacks have taken over the top position in the conference with a little help from the Dollarway Cardinals. Dollarway defeated McGehee on Monday, April 10, 2006 by the score of  13-9.

The Jacks took down the Dumas Bobcats by the score of 14-4 on Monday, April 10, 2006. That win, plus the loss of McGehee gives the Jacks the top spot in the conference for the time being.

Bryan Church again pitched magnificently for the Jacks. He lasted six innings. The game ended after six when Warren inflicted the mercy rule on Dumas.

For the second time in two games the Jacks have been able to put up 14 runs. Every starter the Jacks had in the lineup had at least one hit.

In the first inning Dumas got on the board first with a squeeze play. The Bobcats came out and held the Jacks in the bottom of the first.

Warren contained the Bobcats in the top of the second. The Jacks broke open their first lead in the bottom of the inning. They went into the third with a 2-1 lead.

In the sixth inning Rob Reep drove in Jarren Jefferson to make it 13-4. Dennen Cuthbertson then hit a single to bring in the mercy rule run.

A.J. Avery led the Jacks at the plate with two triples and a home run.  Daniel Robinson, Jarius Wright, and Matt Pace all gathered doubles on the night. Junior Bryan Church had a double and a triple. Dennen Cuthbertson, Wesley Cogdill, and Rob Reep all had singles on the night.

The Jacks will face Junction City on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. Come out and support your Jacks.
