Jacks Win Nail Biter

Thursday, December 8th, 2005-McGehee, Arkansas

Warren traveled to McGehee Thursday night, hot off their victory of Fordyce.

McGehee jumped to an 18-8 lead in the first quarter. Warren refused to be blown over, as they came right back and outscored the Owls 15-9 in quarter number 2. The halftime score stood at 27-23 in favor of McGehee.

Both teams came out playing well in the second half. The Lumberjacks outscored McGehee 16-15 in the period behind 6 AJ Avery points. The score entering the final frame was 42-39.

The final period saw the Lumberjacks make their winning move. Sophomore Greg Childs scored 6 points as the Lumberjacks scored 21 in the period. Childs' two free throw shots cut the lead to one. It was then Sr. Derrick Bullard turn to make something happen. Bullard steal and shot won the ballgame for the Lumberjacks.

The final score was 60-59 in favor of Warren. Chanc Davis scored 22, AJ Avery 18, and Greg Childs dropped 8 of his own. For McGehee, Cord Davis, Craig Gardener, and Taylor Scales dropped 18, 16, and 10 points respectively. The Lumberjacks moved to 3-1 in the conference with their victory.
