Warren's Still Winless After Tough Week

The season has been an uphill battle for Lady Jack coach Sandra Hatley and her shallow roster. The Lady Jacks continued to fight, but fell short in all three of their contests last week.

The week began with Drew Central's Lady Pirates making the short trip from Monticello to Warren. The trip was well worth it. Drew Central lead 31-20 at the half, then depth took over. The third period saw Drew Central outscore Warren's senior girls 25-6 pushing their lead to 56-26 through three quarters. The ballgame ended with Drew Central on top 74-34. Sr. Jessica Jones continued to play well in the absence of injured Frederika Marshall. Jones scored 12 of her teams 34 points in the ballgame.

The Lady Jacks took the trip to Dumas two days later. The outcome was more of the same, however. Quality free throw shooting kept the Lady Jacks in it through the first period, as Warren was down 17-9. However, the Bobcats quickly blew it open. taking a 49-27 lead into the break. The second half was played at a slower pace, and the Lady Jacks ultimately fell 69-34. The Bobcats size advantage played heavily into the outcome, as Warren was out-rebounded 31-18 in the contest. Jessica Jones' great week continued as she scored 18 points, 16 coming from the charity stripe. Shaquonda York added 8 points in the loss.

The week ended for Warren with a trip to Star City on Friday night. After getting dropped 47-2 in the first meeting, the Lady Jacks made a much better impression this go-round. However, Jessica Jones' 12 points were unable to pull Warren to an upset victory. The Lady Jacks trailed by eight after one set and were down 38-15 at the half. Star City pushed the lead to 54-21 to end the third and threw it into cruise control to end up winning 62-25. The loss left Warren sitting at 0-17 on the year.
